SAN DAMIANO ENCOUNTER (6/16/2021):
Our spiritual assistant, Kurt Keidl OFS, participated in the Franciscan vocation panel for the San Damiano Encounter at Cardinal Stritch Univeristy this evening. While he represented Secular Franciscans, Fr. Vito Martinez OFM Cap spoke for the friars and Sr. Mary Jeanne Michels OSF discussed Franciscan Sisters. After sharing the charism and ministries of their Orders, they concluded with Eucharistic Adoration and the sacrament of Reconciliation was made available.
The San Damiano Encounter is a program sponsored by the St. Clare Center for Ministry and Leadership at Cardinal Stritch University, a Franciscan university.
This week-long residential program is a faith-based leadership training experience for high school students. The program is called the San Damiano Encounter in reference to the chapel where St. Francis of Assisi first heard a call from God to rebuild the Church. The program blends theological content, leadership development, service learning, and Franciscan values with an emphasis on mission and vocation. The tagline for the program is “Deepen your faith. Become yourself. Heal the world."
